John Birkett has spent over 20 years in the public accounting field, primarily in the areas of taxation and business consulting. Having worked in both large and small accounting firm atmospheres in Portland, John decided to break away in 1995 to start his own practice in Brunswick. In the years since, the firm has developed strong relationships and a favorable reputation. As the owner and founder of our firm, John specializes in general business consulting and strategic tax planning.

A graduate of Franklin Pierce College with a degree in accounting, John and his wife Sandra (“Sam”) moved to Maine in 1986 and made a home on Chebeague Island, where they continue to live today. John and Sam are blessed with two boys and a girl.

Kim joined JH Birkett, CPA in November 2002.  She is a Maine licensed CPA with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Bentley College. With over 20 years experience in small business accounting, Kim's experience includes accounting management, financial statement preparation, audit, and tax. Kim offers specific and professional expertise in the areas of accounting systems design and technology application, financial analysis, managerial reporting, and tax preparation. 

As an Advanced QuickBooks ProAdvisor^SM, Kim has extensive experience in designing, implementing, and supporting QuickBooks^® based accounting systems for small business clients. 

Kim lives in Falmouth with her husband, Rick, and their chocolate lab, Ullr.
